More about the Legend...
Jim Maroney
From Jim:
Stallions that have lived at Ennistymon for training or breeding: Sey Magnifique, Kapital Gains, The Bishop, *Pauk, *Espor, Bandstand (I showed him to Canadian National Champion Futurity Colt in a huge class in Toronto), Raxx, CD Spellbinder, Sensational Bey, KS Beywatch and Tru. Most have several humorous anecdotes attached. I also handled the National Champions Kaiyoum and Zarr Hassan for photo shoots and presentations...again, with some tales attached.
My Dad and Walter Farley were childhood friends, so I grew up with The Black Stallion and The Island Stallion Flame. I groomed the pony in the petting part of what is now the Rosamond Gifford Zoo when I was 14 and took riding lessons at the Calvary Club from John Vass at about the same time. I have ringmastered many a show with many a judge and I have judged myriad open breed shows all over the state, including State Fair 4H.
I have been president of ESAHA a few times and I have managed a few ESAHA shows, including an open show at Harmony Acres. I have written articles for SHOW HORSE magazine, Horse Bits, and The Northeast Horseman's Journal. I have conducted clinics on the breed for 4H multiple times and I ran 2 successful Stallion Service auctions in the 80s.
I was toastmaster at the ESAHA Annual Awards banquet for many years (see attached pic, in which I am auctioning off a pink 42 D boustiere, anonymously donated for our youth group).
