TABLE IV - Dressage

1)

Minimum of two shows.

2)

Minimum of three scores with median of 55%
All scores from a show must be submitted in order for any scores to be counted, regardless of percentage score.

3)

Minimum of two different judges

4)

All scores & placings from any show must be submitted.

5)

Shows need not be recognized, but judges must be rated.

6)

Shows need not be Arab shows.
-Dressage scores from combined training will count if the judge is recognized, and if the class is a dressage only class.
-Scoring committee reserves the right to check scores.
-Judges names must be legible, and a copy of the front of the test sheet for each test must be submitted. All judges names & scores must be legible.

-Explanation of High Point Calculated Method.
-All Entries are thoroughly checked to determine if the horse/rider has met the criteria listed above.

*The median score is defined as the score that falls exactly in the middle of a group of scores. For example, if (3) scores were submitted, 55%, 56% and 57%, the median score is 56%. Or if (4) scores were submitted, 55%, 56%, 57% and 58%, the average of the two middle scores would be considered the median score, in this case, 56.5%

*Because it is recognized that everybody and every horse can have a bad day, the lower 20% of each horse's scores are thrown out before the median score is selected.

*If an entrant submits scores for more than one level, each level is treated as a separate entry for scoring purposes. In these cases, the level having a lower median score is rejected. This is necessary due to the rule that any horse can pin only once hi one competition category.

*An equalizing difficulty factor is calculated as stated below. The need for this factor is that it is more difficult for a horse competing at the higher levels to attain a given score than for a horse competing at the lower levels. Also, horses competing at higher levels are required to demonstrate movements that are considered more difficult than the movements performed at lower levels.
Training =Median plus 0% adjustment
1st Level =Median plus 1% adjustment
2nd Level =Median plus 3% adjustment
3rd & 4th Level =Median plus 5% adjustment
5th Level & FEI =Median plus 8% adjustment
These adjusted medians would determine the ESAHA Dressage High Score Award unless there is a 5th or FEI level horse with a three show actual median of 60% or greater. In that event, the 5th or FEI level horse would be the High Score Champion.
The following points are to be given at the Median.
Regional Champion 3.50 Points
Regional Res. Champion 3.25 Points
Regional Top 5 3.00 Points
National Champion 7.75 Points
National Res. Champion 7.50 Points
National Top 10 7.25 Points
As entries warrant this category may be split as follows:
---Training Level and First Level in one section.
---2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Level in second section.
