Welcome to the 2008 competition year...

and welcome to the Empire State Arabian Horse Association’s High
Score Awards Program. If you are a renewing member and a
long-time participant to High Score, welcome back, and thank you
for your continued support. If you are a new member, or simply
new to High Score, we welcome you to the program and look
forward to your participation.
As always, the year ahead promises great things for our club,
and for our industry. On the local level, we are all looking
forward to another successful Empire Spring Show, May 2-4, 2008.
Please come out and join us, whether you are showing a horse or
not. The variety of classes slated offers something for
everyone, exhibitors and spectators alike.
Our footing will be returning! The highly-praised, rubber-based,
dust-free footing that we all enjoyed at Empire last year will
be back this year, and will be in place for all of the Arabian
shows that are held in Syracuse, NY this season. Such an
improvement to an already exhibitor-friendly facility, and to an
exhibitor-friendly show should not be missed!
The Breeders’ Sweepstakes program is entering its third year of
offering prize money to enrolled horses at every level of
competition, starting at the A- rated shows. Sport horse classes
will once again be featured in the main ring at our Spring Show.
AHA’s new halter judging system will be in full swing this year.
The Region 16 Championships will again be held in Syracuse, as
they will be for the foreseeable future. All in all, there is a
lot to look forward to this year. Don’t miss a minute of it.
One of the most important things not to miss, of course, is
participation in ESAHA’s High Score Program. Now a long-standing
tradition, this program began in 1964 and has enjoyed 45 years
of success. Please join us in this opportunity for each ESAHA
member to receive well-deserved recognition among our peers for
achievements and accomplishments earned this year.
Please know that the High Score Program offers something for
every level of competitor. You do not have to show extensively
to be successful in this program. We welcome competitors of all
levels – whether you are breeding your next National Champion or
if you are considering trying an A-rated show for the very first
time this year.
Mark your calendars now for the annual High Score Awards
Banquet, to be held this year on Saturday, January
17th, 2009. For your planning purposes, please note that the
date of our banquet has remained in January for this year,
as a direct result of the positive feedback we received
regarding this date for the past two years. Also as a direct
result of VERY positive feedback, we will once again be holding
the banquet at the beautiful and spacious Empire Room, at the
New York State Fairgrounds. Holding our banquet on the
Fairgrounds offers a centralized location (and one with which
our members are certainly familiar!) as well as plenty of
accessible, free parking.
ESAHA High Score awards are not only prestigious to win, and add
value to your horses, but are also in themselves beautiful
awards. In 2007, category champions and reserves received, among
other items, beautiful ribbons, embroidered saddle-pad carriers,
and embroidered bridle bags. Champions in past years have earned
leather halters, director’s chairs, saddle bags, garment bags,
and embroidered coolers, as well. Look around at the shows this
summer, and you’ll be sure to see past winners sporting their
very usable ESAHA High Score winnings!
